I'm about to tear down my tiny garage and build a new one (approx 20x30'), which will be strictly used for recording. I have already been through some reading material and some VERY useful studio message boards.

I'm just curious if anyone here has had some success in a home studio project. I'd be very interested in lessons learned, good and bad.

Has this section fallen to the wayside while we all contemplate the IS up in Spiritual diss-cussion? There hasn't seemed to be any new thoughts or ideas here lately. I miss this as I used to get alot of good ideas from the music makers out there.

Also anyone have a clue how to use a four track recorder? The wife got one for me and I have no idea how this thing works.

Think how much better you would be if you knew what you were doing?

I'm not sure if someone already has a thread about this or not, but I decided to make one.

So, for those who play, what type of gear do you use? You don't have to list it all if you don't want to.

I'll start. For guitar I mainly use my Fender Strat, but also have a Gibson Les Paul, Takamine EGS, and a quite old Yamaha classical. I just bought a new classical guitar by a japanese luthier named M. Sakurai. And I love my Fender tube amp

Hi fellowdrummers,

You have probably watched the movie from the new recordingsessions of Neals album.

In this movie, right at the start we can see the Fang ready to rock behind his drums, but at the bassdrum front head there's a Meinl logo, while Mike endorses Sabian and Sabian MAX cymbals.

Keyboards at home

What do I need to improve the sound of my keyboards when I play at home? I'm currently using a small mixer and a pair of computer monitors which rattle when I play a good lead sound on my synth.

I've been looking at a power amp + speakers, but would some powered nearfield monitors, Yamaha or Fostex be a neater solution?. I'm primarily a guitarist, so I've no up to date knowledge of these things.
